Erik ten Hag is a former Dutch professional football player who played as a defender. He was born on February 2, 1970, in Haaksbergen, Netherlands.
Ten Hag started his career with local club Tubantia and later moved to Twente, where he made over 200 appearances for the club. He also played for De Graafschap, FC Utrecht, RKC Waalwijk, and FC Bayern Munich during his career.
As a player, Ten Hag was known for his toughness, aerial ability, and leadership skills. He won the Eredivisie with FC Twente in the 2003-04 season and the DFB-Pokal with Bayern Munich in the 1997-98 season.
After retiring as a player, Ten Hag went into coaching and had stints with Go Ahead Eagles, FC Bayern Munich II, and FC Utrecht. He then took charge of Ajax in 2017 and has since won the Eredivisie, KNVB Cup, and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 2018-19 season. Ten Hag is known for his tactical expertise and ability to develop young players.
